Master Distiller Enrique Fonseca ages his Selección de 1146 añejo tequila in used Cabernet Franc wine barrels from the Loire Valley of France. 60% of the tequila is aged for two years; 40% is aged for three years. Unlike most añejo tequilas, the two maturations are gradually integrated before maturing in toasted American white oak previously used to age Tennessee rye whiskey, ultimately producing a balance of oak and agave.
